Set of six hand coloured bird engravings

Extremely smart hand coloured bird engravings carefully framed with ivory card mounts and black wooden bamboo frames.  

These prints are well-known historical illustrations originally engraved by William Lizars after a drawings by James Stewart. The illustrations were published in the 19th century as part of renowned natural history texts, including Sir William Jardine's The Naturalist's Library (1838) and J.M. Bechstein's Cage and Chamber-Birds (1889).
